About Polygor
Barbara and Gary Oxholm
Gary has been professionally showing and breeding dogs since the 1960s, and
Barbara since the 1970s....we have had PBGVs for over 20 years. Our dogs live
with us in their own private 'doggy home' and since we own a commercial
boarding facility on the same property, our dogs get TLC all day, every day.
Barbara became a member of the newly formed PBGV Club of America in 1983 after
acquiring her first PBGV "Foxy" and since then has been an active member of
the club, serving on the Board of Directors, on several committees and a Board
of Director of the PBGVCA Health and Rescue Foundation. We are also members of
the French Club De Griffon Vendeen.
We have bred over 30 Champion Petits Bassets Griffons Vendeens and have
finished many others as champions including many imported from France, the
country of origin. We are striving to produce happy healthy dogs which can
compete in the show ring or be happy well-loved family companions, or both.
All our dogs have heart clearances, hip clearances and eye clearances done
before they are bred. Our puppies go to their new homes with a written
contract, pedigree and health information. They are not shipped as cargo but
are flown with a courier who delivers them to the airport closest to their new
home-NO STRESS !
Remember, PBGVs are very active, independent and curious: not
hyper, but active. They love people and other dogs. They are easily
housebroken, but not particularly easily obedience trained, unless you have a
diligent nature, lots of patience and lots of treats. They are not to be
allowed off lead because they have strong hunting instincts. They are very
humorous but the breed is not for everyone, although we
love them!
Many Polygor bred PBGVs make us proud as top performance dogs! Here is LS who recently competed and passed at an agility trial and she will be 10 years old Feb. 2006!!! Many thanks to LS's proud owner and trainer Kathy Marshall!!
